Tandem bike stoker handlebar stem post

Tandem stoker handlebar stem post

The most commonly used arrangement for a stoker stem in recent times has been an adjustable handlebar stem mounted on the captains seat post but for me it had some design limitations. Looking back through the history of tandem designs, there have been many designs used and I favoured a stoker handlebar stem post on the top tube, leaving a space for a stoker handlebar bag. The large diameter frame tubes helped make this possible too. I found an offcut of carbon forks steerer tube, mounted it in another tube, then glued it in place on the top tube.

After double checking it was aligned correctly it was sanded back then wrapped with carbon cloth orientated in all directions first then cosmetic overlays. Some light sanding removed some blemishes and blended it in with the top tube. Now it really looked like a tandem frame with all the frame parts in place.
